Part 1 – Holiday concepts for single parent families
As we specialise in single parent holidays, we wanted to offer something different, something that would really help to make your holiday a holiday! We aim to take away the feeling of isolation that can often be felt and create a holiday support network and friendship group on all of our small group breaks whether that is in the UK or overseas.
All our overseas holidays are on half-board or all-inclusive basis so that our families don’t feel like the spotlight is on them because they are eating alone. Sitting on the same table, or near each other, makes meals times so much easier and much more enjoyable as you have other adults to chat to and parents can take turns keeping an eye on the children whilst you head over to the buffet!
Some parents struggle with the fact that their ex gets to enjoy new experiences with their children and they are no longer part of it. Our #childshare concept means that both parents share the holiday with their children spending 1 week each with them and the children have 2 weeks – without having to change hotel rooms! This is could be an ideal solution to avoid holiday arguments for some families.
Evenings tend to be a difficult time for single parents on holiday. Most “couple” families sit and watch the entertainment or relax by the bar while the kids enjoy the mini-disco. Sitting alone is no fun at all! Feeling isolated and like Billy No Mates whilst everyone else is happily chatting with their partner. Melon holidays aims to create a holiday support network and friendship group so that you always have someone to enjoy the evenings with – cocktail in hand!
Not all single-parent families want to share their holiday time with people that they don’t know, or they are not comfortable meeting new people and so the group concept will not work for them. We offer a tailormade holiday service where we provide a quote according to the needs of your family. Choose one of our advertised hotels or email us with the type of hotel and destination you are interested in, along with details of transfers or car hire, sightseeing excursions, the dates you would like to travel, and the age of your children and we’ll do the rest – getting a quote back to you within 24-hrs.
Do you want something a bit extra? We will soon be offering twin centre breaks as part of our single parent holidays programme in some of our destinations. Our families can combine a city break in Athens followed by relaxing on a Greek island, for example, or they could twin 2 of the Balearic or Canary Islands with the ferry transfer between them included in the package. More than just a holiday – this is a #singleparentfamilyadventure!!
